Project:           Application for Environmental Authorisation, a Waste Management Licence and an Integrated Water Use Licence for proposed infrastructure development at Vandyksdrift Central (VDDC)

Client:             South32 SA Coal Holdings (Pty) Limited

Jones & Wagener (Pty) Ltd Engineering and Environmental Consultants (J&W) has been appointed by South32 SA Coal Holdings (Pty) Limited (South32) as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake the abovementioned applications for the development of additional infrastructure to support the proposed opencast mining at their Vandyksdrift Central (VDDC) operation.

The Environmental Impact Assessment Report, incorporating the Waste Management Licence Application and Environmental Management Programme, which have been available for review from 2 December 2019 until 24 February 2020, have been finalised and will be submitted to the competent authority namely, the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR). The final reports are available to the Interested and Affected Parties (IAPs) and stakeholders can access the documents on the J&W website (www.jaws.co.za) as from 6 July 2020.

Should IAPs wish to make additional comments on the FEIAR and FEMPr reports, they can direct the comments to the DMR case officer mentioned below. Please ensure that you include the reference number: MP 30/5/1/2/3/2/1 (379) EM in your correspondence. Kindly send a copy of your comments to the public participation office.
